Do you support long races (ex: 25hours)? What's the maximum duration of a stream?

Yes

The max duration of a Stream Event is 48 hours. If you schedule a stream that is longer than 12 hours, we automatically create multiple YouTube Lives so that your entire race will remain available for replays on YouTube. The reason we split a single Stream in multiple YouTube lives is because YouTube will not let you access the replay of a live stream if it's longer than 12 hours. So, if you create a Stream Event of 14 hours for example, we create 2 x 7 hours YouTube live streams. For the first 7 hours, we will send your camera stream to the first YouTube Live (Part-1) and then automatically switch the second one (Part-2) so that the entire race remains accessible for replays afterwards.

Category:

Can I merge two camera feeds into one feed?

No (not yet)

Today you cannot merge two camera feeds into a single stream. We do plan to add this option in the future so stay tuned.

How do I share my in-car live streaming with a broadcaster?

Live Stream Event>Streaming Destinations>Copy the link

A couple of options: 1. If you're streaming publicly on MyRaces.Live: share the link to the MyRaces.Live YouTube account with your broadcaster and let them know your team name and car number. 2. Check if your broadcaster is in the list of known broadcasters under "My Profile" and enable sharing your streams with them. 3. If you're not streaming publicly, share all the YouTube links to your live streams with the broadcaster (click on your Stream Event, then scroll down to "Streaming Destinations" and find all the YouTube links there) 4. Ask your broadcaster to contact us and we can set them up with a Broadcaster account so that they pull your stream directly using RTMP.

Streaming Services

Category:

I am a broadcaster, is it possible to pull the video streams of the racing teams into my broadcast?

Yes

If you're a broadcaster, we can setup a broadcaster account for you. You'll be able to see all the upcoming and live streams that the racing teams have shared with you pull the stream directly using RMTP.

Can you generate a QR code for my Yi4K/Yi4K+?

Yi4K+ only

If you have a Yi4K+ and you don't have a way to generate the QR Code anymore (ex: cannot find or install the Yi app), you can generate one in our portal via the free account. Note that our Yi QR Code generator only works for Yi4K+ (not for Yi4K).

Streaming Services

Category:

is there is a way to stream only on my YouTube channel?

Yes

Yes, you can stream to your own YouTube channel using a free account.

Streaming Services

Category:

Does the RTMP URL remain the same for my future stream events? Or do I get a new one every time?

Same

Every user has a pre-created source camera (Cameras>"My Default Camera") and each camera is associated with a fixed "RTMP URL". When you schedule a stream, you can select which "Source Camera" to use, and that determines which RTMP URL will be used for that stream event (we default it to your "My Default Camera"). So as long as you choose the same camera (ex: the default one), it will always be the same RTMP URL. If you had another streaming camera, you could create a new "Camera" object with a new fixed RTMP URL and use that for your second camera.

Can I stream in any resolution (480, 720p, 1080p)?

Yes

Yes you can stream at any resolution (up to 1080p). We do recommend streaming at 720p for the best result. When streaming at 1080p, make sure to set the output stream resolution to 1080p in the advanced settings when scheduling a Stream.

Streaming Services

Category:

What do you recommend setting my resolution, fps and bitrate to?

720p, 30fps, 2500K bitrate

We recommend the following settings for most tracks: 720p, 30fps, 2500K bitrate. If a track has poor cell service, we recommend using 480p. If a track has excellent network service, you can always try 1080p. Make sure to change the resolution in the advanced settings when scheduling your Stream Event from 720p to 1080p.

Streaming Services

Category:

How do I know if the tracks/circuits I race at are good for live streaming?

Go to Ressources>Tracks Score

It's a trial-and-error process but with the help of other teams, we have been documenting what service providers work well at what tracks in a public database (go to Ressources>Tracks Score). You can help contribute as well by adding your own score and comments!

Live Timing Overlay

Category:

I noticed the overlay has driver information. How does that get setup, and can you change it remotely?

Select your Stream Event then update the "current driver" field

The current driver information is provided by the user when scheduling a new stream event in the MyRaces.Live portal/Web UI. You can create and update the current driver at any point in time via the Web UI.

Live Timing Overlay

Category:

How does your system know about class position, etc.?

Live Timing integration + your car number.

Our system knows about your car position, gaps, etc., by integrating with live timing systems and by asking for your car number and car class.

Live Timing Overlay

Category:

Can it receive CAN data for overlay?

No (not yet)

We cannot currently receive CAN data but we're working on it!

Live Timing Overlay

Category:

Can it show location on track?

No (not yet)

We cannot currently receive a GPS location but we're working on it!

Live Timing Overlay

Category:

I have scheduled a stream, but what should I select as race source data?

Leave it empty or select a live timing app and race event

The race source data is where you tell us how to retrieve the live timing information for your race/session/event. If your live timing is not shared anywhere, you can leave this field empty.

Live Timing Overlay

Category:

Why is my race event not listed in the race source events list?

Because it's not live or because it needs to be added manually.

If you don't see your race event in the dropdown list but you see it in the live timing app, it may be that the event is not live yet. We only show live events, not upcoming ones.

Live Streaming Kit

Category:

Can I use your kit in open cockpit cars?

Yes but not under heavy rain without additional protection

Our kits can be mounted on 1.5'' to 2'' roll bars. For open cockpits, we recommend using an additional accessory to protect the camera lens from debris (see Ressource>Tutorials>"Using the MineA5 in open cockpit cars, and how to protect the camera lens."). We do not recommend using the camera in open cockpit cars under heavy rain or, if you do so, to find a way to protect it from the rain.

Live Streaming Kit

Do any SIM card and mobile plan work with your streaming camera?

The MineA5 has two slots for nano size SIM cards. For the best streaming experience, we recommend using a high speed, high priority, unlimited mobile data plan.

The MineA5 requires a nano size SIM card. E-sims are not supported. The list of Service Providers we have tested with the MineA5 are: - USA: Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile - Australia: Telstra - Belgium: Spectrum and Proximus - Brazil: Claro !! If your SIM card is locked by a PIN code, make sure to remove the PIN code before transferring the SIM card into the MineA5. The list of Service Providers we know do NOT allow a mobile SIM card in the MineA5: - Canada: Bell and Telus PS: if you are streaming from Canada, you will likely have to use an external hotspot and stream with the MineA5 over Wi-Fi, or, use a US SIM card with a plan that allows free roaming from Canada.

Category:

How do I activate a SIM Card for the MineA5?

You cannot use the MineA5 IMEI, you have to use the IMEI of a mobile phone supported by your provider and work with a provider that allows you to transfer a SIM card from/to different devices.

If you already have a Verizon account, you can call/text our Verizon partner (Eric Kaul). If you prefer to do it yourself or if you're using another provider, make sure your provider allows an activated SIM card to be transferred between devices. Then, do the following:  1. Go to a Store (AT&T or Verizon or Other): - Tell the store you'd like a new mobile data plan for a personal device: your personal phone (bring it with you).  - Select a 4G LTE Mobile plan preferably with high speed, high priority and unlimited upload data. - Ask for a physical SIM card, nano size (or bring your own) - Once you have the mobile plan and the SIM card: insert the SIM card in your phone/tablet. - Follow the on-screen steps to complete the activation and setup.  - Test that you have internet access with the new SIM card.  - Once you're back home, transfer the new SIM card to your livestreaming camera.  2. Or, Try the online procedure (AT&T or Verizon or Other):  - Log in to your Account - Find the "Bring your own phone/device" option - Use an existing phone you have at home and that you know is supported by Verizon/AT&T/Other  - Select the brand and model.  - When prompted for the IMEI, enter the IMEI from your personal smartphone: You can typically find your phone's IMEI by dialing *#06# Ask for "physical SIM" as well  - Preferably, select a high speed, high priority and unlimited 4G LTE data. - Once you have a mobile plan: Insert the SIM card in your phone.  - Follow the on-screen steps to complete the activation and setup. - Test that you have internet access with the new SIM card.  - Transfer the new SIM card to your livestreaming camera.
