Live streaming with the MINE A5 using the MLive phone app.

The MLive phone app allows you to connect to and configure your MineA5 camera remotely using your phone. Here's a quick tutorial to start live-streaming with your MineA5 using the MLive phone app.

Downloading the MLive App on Android or iPhone

After installing the MLive App, you can directly log in using the username and password provided with your MyRacesLive livestreaming kit (look for the grey sticker on your MineA5 Guide, use the "ID" as your username and "PWD" as your password). You do not need to create a new account.

Once you're logged in, you can add your camera by clicking on "Add Device" in the top right corner and scanning the QR code displayed on the grey sticker or the QR code on your camera. Enter a name for your camera and click "Add Device".

If your camera is connected to the Internet (either via a local Wifi or via a 4G network), it will show as "Online" and you can click on the device to control it remotely:

  • Configure/Start/Stop a live stream ("Push Flow")

  • Check the battery level ("Device Info")

  • Adjust the audio settings ("More Settings">"Audio Set")

  • Adjust the video settings (brightness, contrast, etc,  under "More Settings">"Camera Set")

  • Etc.

This is very convenient if you need to change a setting when the car is already on track.

Connecting your camera to a 4G network

  1. Insert your activated SIM card into one of the two available slots (if the card doesn't stay in place, it's likely inserted the wrong way).

  2. If you have a MineA5 version 2.0:

    1. Screw your external 4G antenna on the side (L-shapped, or roof top).

    2. Make sure you screw the antenna on the correct SMA connector:

      1. if you inserted your sim card in the "sim1" slot, use the bottom SMA connector. If you inserted your sim card in the "sim2" slot, use the top SMA connector.

  3. A long press on the power button will turn on the camera and bring you to the main screen area:

  4. Wait for the camera to connect to the 4G network and get data service. Look at the 4G network service icon in the top-left corner:

  5. Good signal strength should be at least 3 bars.

  6. Wait for the dot above the signal bars to turn green (grey or red means there's no data service yet).

  7. Check the 4G LED turns solid blue (a blinking blue LED means the camera is trying to connect to the network).

Connecting your camera to a local WiFi

  • Click on the "Settings" (gear icon)

  • Navigate to General>Network>WiFi and enable the WiFi

  • Select your local WiFi from the list and enter your WiFi password

Configuring live streaming using the MLive App

Wait for your camera to show "Online" then find and click on the "Push Flow" button.

Under "Single Network Streaming", click on "Channel binding 1":

  • In the RTMP URL field of your stream event:

    • Paste the RTMP URL provided on the MyRacesLive website

      • Go to the Streams page, click on your test Stream Event> scroll down to the "CAMERA CONFIG" box.

      • Copy the full RTMP URL (including the /cam1 at the end!!)

    • !! Leave the "Stream Name/Key" field empty.

  • Click on "Save Address" at the bottom of the screen.

  • Then, if your Stream Event Infra Status on MyRaces.Live shows "ready", you can start pushing your stream by clicking on "start pushing".

    • If the Infra Status shows "Deploying", wait another for 1/2 minutes until it shows "Ready".

If the camera successfully connects to the RTMP destination and starts streaming, a green LED will begin blinking next to the cloud icon on the camera, and the "Channel binding 1" box in the MLive app will turn green.

On the MyRaces.Live Streams page, scroll down to "Stream Health", click on the refresh icon and check if the orange line is going up: this indicates the stream from the camera is being received. After 20/30 seconds, you should see the blue line going up as well, which indicates the stream is being sent to the MyRaces.Live YouTube channel, as well as any custom destinations you have configured.

If the connection fails, ensure you have a strong network signal reception, and that your MyRaces.Live Stream Event Infra Status is "ready". Also, double-check that the stream destination is configured correctly (it's easy to make a typo).

To verify that your camera is connected to a 4G network, has strong signal reception, and has data service:

  • Check the status of blue LED next to "4G" on the left side of the camera:

    • Blinking blue = Trying to connect to a 4G network

    • Solid blue = Connected to a 4G network

  • Check the signal strength on the home page of the touch screen:

    • Less than 2 bars = the signal reception at your location may not be good enough

    • >3 bars = the signal reception at your location is good enough

  • Check the color of the dot on top of the signal bars:

    • Grey dot = Trying to connect to a 4G network

    • Green dot = Connected to a 4G network and has data service.

    • Red dot =  Connected to a 4G network but has NO data service (ex: your card has no data service activated or you've reached a data service limit.)

For future events, if you want your camera to start streaming to the configured address as soon as it's powered on, you can enable "auto-stream" for that channel.

For improved audio, connect the provided external microphone to the camera and position it somewhere in the car that is less exposed to wind.

Using the MLive app, navigate to "More Settings">"Audio set": enable the 'External mic' and disable 'Inner mic'.
